Andrew is a skilled horticulturalist with many years of experience working in the landscaping industry and has achieved a certificate in permaculture design. Andrew is responsible for managing, organising and running the daily operations of the business on the grounds maintenance side and brings a wealth of plant knowledge, hands on experience and attention to detail that is second to none.
“Nurturing the landscape by using the correct horticultural practices to enhance the life of plants is my passion and this in turn increases soil health and biodiversity. My plant knowledge is extensive, and I pride myself on knowing the correct method and time of year to prune plants throughout the season to encourage their absolute best. For me, the key element that brings the whole garden design together is the planting and I thoroughly enjoy my part in this process. Adding a sense of drama, this is when the client sees the garden transformed, everything looking fresh and ready to flourish.”
Originally trained in interior design, Pauline graduated from the Glasgow School of Art with an honour’s degree and worked for many years in the design industry before deciding to retrain as a garden designer at SRUC Edinburgh. Pauline is responsible for the design side of the business and her creative background gives her a special understanding of the importance of working closely with clients in order to take the initial design right through to build and completion.
“Design is an integral part of my life and for me, is not only about ‘The Look’. It must be practical for the intended use, last the test of time and of course, be beautiful. Nothing pleases me more than to see an unloved, unkempt space that doesn’t work for the client transformed into a wonderful, functional space that can be used to its full potential. My interior design background and experience in the industry gives me a good understanding of spatial awareness, balance and creativity within my designs.”
