Founded in 2014, Ortus is a family-run business committed to providing exceptional landscape design and maintenance services. Our directors, Andrew and Pauline McQuade, bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the business and specialise in sustainable practices and high-quality design to create beautiful, eco-friendly outdoor spaces. We prioritise using recycled materials, incorporating permeable paving, and advocating for naturalistic planting. Our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction has allowed us to build strong relationships with clients throughout Glasgow and the west of Scotland.

About Andrew

Andrew is a skilled horticulturalist with nearly 20 years of experience in the horticulture industry. He holds a certificate in permaculture design and is deeply passionate about nature.

As the director of the grounds maintenance division, Andrew oversees the day-to-day operations of the business. He brings a wealth of horticultural knowledge, plant expertise, and hands-on experience to every project. It’s no surprise that his nickname is “Andy Beechgrove”!

Andrew is committed to nature, sustainability, and naturalistic planting. In his spare time, he enjoys being outdoors, DJing and creating music.

About Pauline

Pauline is a seasoned professional with nearly 20 years of experience in the design industry. She brings a unique blend of creativity, technical expertise, and a keen eye for detail to every project.

Pauline graduated from The Glasgow School of Art with a BA(Hons) in design. She is a passionate and creative individual who loves garden design. Pauline treats every design project as if it were her own garden, ensuring that each space is both functional and beautiful.

In addition to her BA(Hons), Pauline also holds an HNC in garden design from SRUC Edinburgh and has completed a course in dry stone walling.
Outside of work, Pauline enjoys spending time with her family, pursuing creative endeavours, reading, and learning new skills.
